And as Director of Makeup Artistry for MAC Cosmetics, he relentlessly tours the world making his mark on editorial shoots, for runway shows and other showcases for the international beauty brand.
Today, Oscar Sunday, it’s all about the red carpet. And in a Hollywood minute, he relayed which way the make-up brush is sweeping in glamourland: “I’m seeing 3 distinct looks this season with a more modern take: a classic Hollywood glamour look with a defined cat eye and red lip; a smoky eye with a lighter lip; and a softer “no makeup” look with an emphasis on skin and blush.
Classically Modern Hollywood
“Keep the eyes soft and iridescent by using All That Glitters or Naked Lunch Eye Shadow to define the crease,” Gregory advises, referencing products by MAC. “Instead of a black liner on the upper lids, try a brown this season. Dipdown Fluidline works perfectly and stays in place all night. For the lips, go for an orange red lip with Lady Danger Lipstick. If you’re feeling bold, try a deep bordeaux red like Diva for a truly vampy mouth.”

“Keep the lids deep using Satin Taupe all over the lids. Use a deep Eye Shadow like Print all around the lash line with Smolder Eye Kohl on the inner waterline of the eye. Top it off with a Dazzlelight Eye Shadow and load up your lashes with False Lashes Extreme Black. Fill in your lips with a neutral liner and apply a neutral lipstick like Hue or Peachstock. Top it off with Love Nectar Tinted Lipglass.”

“Use Prep + Prime Natural Radiance to smooth out any imperfections. For eyes, apply a light coat of Haute & Naughty Lash. For pink cheeks, try Well Dressed or Dame Powder Blush. Warmer tones try Margin for a healthy glow. Try a pink Lipstick such as Pink Pearl Pop or Plink and top it off with Flusterrose Tinted Lipglass.”
