The club name might be Bowie, but from the platinum-haired seductress on the invite to the platinum insouciance of the crowd, the vision inspiring the new Thursday night club at H'wood called Diamond Dogs is pure Roxy Music.
That appeared to come as a shock to Bryan Ferry. Having just hit the drive-thru at In N Out (he did dine at AOC the night before, so he’s off the culinary hook), the natty rock god skipped up the steps of the club last night and right into Amanda Lear clutching the leash of a Doberman. Well, actually, it was a wall-sized image of Lear off the band’s 1973 platter
For Your Pleasure. Ruffled, he turned to drive-thru mates Anne Crawford and Dudley DeZonia, bid them a so long and dashed.

His loss. While he would’ve likely gone unmolested inside, he would have most certainly taken pleasure in the maze of rooms, crammed with all sorts of ladies and gents and everything in between, dancing and carousing like they’d just scored the lottery. And we had. An extensive welcoming committee featured a chocolate box of characters (including yours truly), ensuring a wildly eclectic guest list. The sweltering throng included diamond doll Loree Rodkin, Mischa Barton, Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, Frank Infante and Clem Burke from Blondie, Adam Levine and James Valentine from Maroon 5, Zelda Williams and Anton Yelchin (star of the new
Terminator Salvation and
Star Trek films), Ivana Milicevic, Kirsty Hume and hubby Donvan Leitch.
As model Guinevere van Seenus, Diavolina owner (and party co-host) Evelyn Ungvari and designer Bret Witke cozied up on a sofa in the front salon, nearby on another lounge, Leif Garrett caught up with makeup artist Kathy Jeung. In the disco, stylist Trish Summerville and MAC director Gregory Arlt crammed into a booth with Dita Von Teese, Ava Garter, interior designer Stacia D. and a few cute French boys.

Tracee Ellis Ross swung through, but for a quickie: She had to get her beauty sleep for a shoot the following morning with photography legend Douglas Kirkland. The pair had run into one another at the recent Annenberg Center for Photography opening, and after reminiscing when Douglas had shot a 15-year-old Tracee, he invited her for an update. Can’t wait to see the results of those two sessions side by side.
The late night was well worth the tall gold heels. Between Kelly Cole’s relentless mix of songs we live and die by, Howie Pyro and Anton Yelchin's inspired slides of fashion, film and music moments throughout the many indoor-outdoor rooms, and ringmaster Bryan Rabin’s front of house manners (bolstered by that jaw-dropping, white, crystal-covered Bob Mackie tuxedo), Diamond Dogs has more bite than bark, a deliciously rare hunk of nourishment to get us through these otherwise starved times.
