This time of the year certainly gives us pause to reflect on who is naughty and nice. In the madness of catering to our wonderful customers and a business that is thankfully undergoing record success, we were reminded very recently within the same day how grateful we are for the sane and sensible folks in our 24/7 lives.
There is the wonderful team who is with us right now: our full-time staffers Rafael Negron and Gina Gardner, who are as wise as they are sound; and the two fantastic newbies onboard for the season, Luxi Ye and Crystal Raines, who have been wrapping gifts like the Guiness Book of Records depends on it.
And a couple of days ago, after an endless day that began at an uncivilized hour with a most uncivilized email from someone we put our trust and affection in we came home to a heavy box smelling of smoked deliciousness. Our former staffer Taylor Cumbie, who left early this year to pursue a music career in Austin, Texas, sent us a taste of a long-standing tradition in her Texan family, a "treat" during our holidaze. Last Christmas, despite her long hours at A+R, she made the most wonderful stew and bread at home and delivered it to us one night. We adored Taylor so much that we flew her out this summer to work the A+R pop-up store at the Dwell show with us. And now we're enjoying this mouth-watering bird from the Tyler, Texas-based Greenberg Smoked Turkey company. Yee-haw.
