With the release tonight of a very silly, very funny vid clip featuring John Legend, Will.I.Am, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, Maroon 5 and others rhapsodizing on the impact Dewey Cox has made in their lives, I’m reminded of the hysterical time we had last week on opening night of the mythical legend’s “Cox Across America Tour” at the Coxy, er, Roxy in Hollywood.
Yes, our pal John C. Riley anxiously took to the stage to promote “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,” the latest side buster from Judd Apatow, opening December 21. If the songs, including some cuckoo lyrics, are any indication of what’s to come on the silver screen, I’m there. I might remain a hold out in believing that “This is Spinal Tap” remains far and above the greatest of these spoof rock biopics. But “Cox” is looking like a runner up. I’ll even forgive John for re-donning the black mariachi suit he wore at the Roxy show and five nights before at our friend's Thanksgiving dinner.
