Now Showing: Hollywoodwonderland

We adore Illeana Douglas. She’s the anti-bimbo in Tinseltown’s wasteland of Pretty Stupid Things, embracing her womanly ways with brains and candor that make her all the more seductively fun. So we are thrilled to watch her starring in the sparkling new short film for sparkling accessories designer Tarina Tarantino. “The Making of Hollywoodwonderland” is a tongue-in-cheek take on Italian cinema. The actress is a long-time fan of Tarantino and her biz partner/husband Alfonso Campos. Over tasty comfort nibbles at Tiara Café, Fred Eric’s relatively new rhinestone-speckled diner in downtown L.A.’s Fashion District (which is hands down an ode to Tarantino), the couple shared why they decided to document the making of their look book (in this case, a glossy mag filled with full-bleed shots of a model or Douglas vamping in the newest necklaces, earrings and hair accessories from the 2007 collection) into a short film. Even if you’re not into Swarovski-studded headbands or Lucite bangles, watching this film is a helluva lot more enjoyable than waiting to catch Douglas play legendary editor Diana Vreeland in the otherwise ghastly “Factory Girl.”
