The HBO hit Big Love is a fixture on our TiVo, in part due to the brilliant casting. Among the crew is the curvy bright-eyed brunette who plays the youngest of the sister wives, Ginnifer Goodwin. With season three revving up and buzz already mounting for her turn on the big screen this fall in the A-list ensemble film "He's Just Not That Into You," today began with a breakfast interview with the rising starlet.
We met a 3 Square Cafe, next door to the Venice A+R, to talk about growing up in Memphis, studying Shakespeare in Stratford-Upon-Avon, finding authentic corn bread and collard greens in L.A….and the recent news she's getting the Face of the Future award at the upcoming Women in Film bash.
It was this latter tidbit that prompted our tete a tete. Despite swearing off all magazine assignments until I complete the book project now piled high on my already busy plate, I took up the offer to do this profile partly out of curiosity (ok, so that's why I take on most of my writing gigs at this point).
Was she as likeable in reality? Was there more to her than a pretty face with incredible eyebrows? Would she order a big breakfast and then proceed to push it around her plate in the hopes no one would notice she actually wasn't eating? Yes. Yes. And she heartily knocked back several cups of joe and an omelette and potatoes like a normal Southern girl. She even insisted on a chaser of pastel macaroons from Jin Patisserie across the street.
Insanely real and very much the unHollywood cliché of a young talent on the verge–she loathes the whole carb-free, paparazzi-hungry lives too many of her generation have succumbed to–it was one of those rare work meals that I didn't mind cutting into my Sunday.
